MAKE SOME NOISE
March 4th, 2009
We’re gearing up for International Women’s Day at DVF, but you can start celebrating tomorrow night by going to see A Powerful Noise. This amazing documentary was created by Sheila C. Johnson - philanthropist, entrepreneur, business owner, not to mention a global ambassador for CARE and the first African-American women to have stake in three professional basketball teams! But she has out down herself with this new movie, and has organized a live event on March 5th in 450 theatres across the U.S.. Following the film, there will be a live town hall discussion broadcast from New York to all the participating theatres featuring an all star panel: Madeleine K. Albright, Natalie Portman, Christy Turlington Burns, Nicolas Kristof, and Dr. Helene Gayle, to name a few. Through profiles of women around the world, the movie and event is meant to raise awareness about the importance of empowering women worldwide - something DVF can definitely get on board with!
