In Madrid for the opening of our first boutique in Spain

Many, many decades ago, when I was 17, I lived in Madrid for one year. I was registered at the University, and was studying Spain and Spanish culture. It was a different Spain then, under the dictator Franco and the whole mood was quite dark. There were many wounded veterans from the Spanish war in the streets and lots of student strikes. But Spain changed in the 80’s, Felipe Gonzalez and the King Juan Carlo brought democracy and freedom. La Movida was born, a movement of freedom in the arts and in the streets that was for ever eternalized with the movies of Pedro Almodovar.

So, what more ideal than opening a DVF shop with a collection named La Movida !!!! My partner, Maria Reig, and the fantastic team Sagra and Isabel made my arrival a dream !!!! The shop on Claudio Coello is a gem and the girls who work there so pretty and enthusiastic !!!! 3 days of parties, lots of interviews, a great dinner at the old fashion elegant Jockey club, a very long beautiful walk at the Retiro Park and of course a visit at the Thyssen Museum !!! I love Madrid and am so happy to have a DVF spot there!!!!
