I have been to the Met Ball Benefit for the Costume Institute for decades and 2009 was maybe one of the best ones!!!

Of course the dozens and dozens of gorgeous models did add to the beautiful atmosphere and the mood.  The Museum stairs and corridors were covered in zebra carpeting and the Temple of Dendur was turned into an Egyptian fantasy of the old El Morocco.

The exhibition curated by Harold Koda was really fun and daring, but I will have to go back another time to enjoy it… I was too busy taking photos until my camera flew on the marble floor and broke!!

BE THE WONDER WOMAN YOU WANT TO BE

On the star-studded evening of May 5th, Diane and the International fashion world gathered to celebrate the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s exhibition and theme celebrated the significance of comic Super Heroes upon culture and fashion. In the spirit of the event Diane wore a spectacular floor length, hand-painted organza gown inspired by the iconic Wonder Woman heroine. Special guests Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen wore Wonder Woman imagined goddess-like gowns designed by DVF that reflected the twins individual style – Ashley in a form fitting black gown and Mary Kate in gold beaded floor-length wrap. With camera in hand, Diane captured some of the evening’s highlights and a bevy of her friends on a glamorous New York night out.
