Who on the eve of her fashion show sleeps with her grandchildren? Well I do, because to me, family is the core of everything and the engine of my life!!! My son Alex brought his children Talita and Tassilo to our Spring Show along with his fiancée, Ali Kay, Alexandra, the mother of the children and her companion Dax Miller. Why was my daughter Tatiana not here? Because she is in Toronto presenting her movie Tanner Hall at the Toronto film festival. We are flying there tonight!!!

Summer always goes by so fast…

This August, we spent  a wonderful vacation sailing the Indonesian islands of Bali, Sanbawar, Flores and Komodo. We climbed Volcano Agung, visited the Water Palace of Tirtatanga in Bali, and even danced with frogs! On the way back, I stopped in Singapore to celebrate the opening of the latest DVF shop at the ION Orchard.

Now back to NY, where we are preparing for the Spring show!

The face of facebook!

Every year I accompany my husband to the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley and every year I come back so inspired and impressed. So many smart and engaged people… not only caring about their businesses, but about the world and the well being of others!!!  And Sun Valley is also so beautiful, and I got to spend time with my son Alex von Furstenberg, and my grandchildren! The whole week is fun… though VERY INTENSE!!

When I went back to work in 1998, I came downtown and made my studio in an old carriage house on 12th street. New to the area, I decided to meet my neighbors and found an extraordinary group of people who not only cared for their community but also actually acted to make it better. That is when I met Robert Hammond and Joshua David. They had a dream… to save the High Line (an elevated abandoned railroad) and turn it into a park. (more…)

This year Fashion Week finished just in time for Oscar weekend in L.A., so by the time I got to the City of Angels, I was exhausted and eager to sleep, but sleeping is not on the agenda…

Friday night… dinner at Sandy Gallin’s amazing house in Beverly Hills where Leonardo DiCaprio, Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Barbara Streisand and Oprah Winfrey mingle together eating sushi. A bit later… Bryan Lourd’s pre-Oscar bash. I sit by the fire next to Marisa Tomei and we watch people coming in….Demi Moore looks ravishing in a leopard gown… I am too tired to stay too late.
