This weekend, March 12^th – 14^th, powerful women leaders will gather for the first annual Women in the World Summit held in New York City. The event which is co-hosted by The Daily Beast, DVF, Vital Voices and the UN foundation will showcase the stories of outstanding women fighting to combat sex trafficking, child marriage, and other challenges that continue to plague women and girls. On Saturday evening, the DVF awards will be presented by Diane von Furstenberg and Tina Brown to recognize women who through their courage, leadership, vision and commitment have help to transform the lives of other women worldwide. London Fashion Week follows New York, before Milan and Paris. Many very edgy designers show as well as landmark English designers like Paul Smith and Burberry. I was there to see Nathan Jenden’s show as well as attend Natalia Vodianova’s Love Ball to benefit her Naked Heart Foundation. I was also there to meet with Claridge’s for the rooms that my friend, interior designer Olivier Gelbsman and I are working on. It is a very exciting project since Claridge’s is my very favorite hotel in the world!!!

The winner is...Katherine Chon

You voted for the woman who inspires you most…and the results are in! We are proud to announce the winner of the first DVF Awards People’s Voice award is Katherine Chon, the President and Co-founder of Polaris Project. She has inspired us all by her work combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery through this organization.

As the winner of the People’s Voice Award Katherine will receive a $50,000 for Polaris Project from The Diller- von Furstenberg Family Foundation. The award will be presented on March 13, 2010 at The DVF Awards ceremony at the The Daily Beast’s Women in the World Summit. Congrats to Katherine for all her hard work and thank you to all the other nominees for their continuing efforts to make changes in their communities and beyond - you all inspire us!

Visit the Whitney Museum’s 75th edition of its signature exhibition, the Biennial collection. “2010″ displays all types of contemporary art, while the installation “Collecting Biennials” brings together familiar and less well-known artists from previous exhibitions. February 25 - May 30th.

See a performance at the Irish Repertory Theater on West 22nd Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues, like Candida, the classic play by George Bernard Shaw about a woman who must choose between two very different men in her life.
