DIARY OF VENICE...
June 8th, 2009
The Venice Biennale opened yesterday! And while the event is a long way away from our MPD headquarters, DVF got an inside peak on what to see, where to eat, and everything else that has been going on from Anne McNally.
I am in Venice for the Biennale! Upon arrival, dinner at the Cip’s Club with Larry Gagosian, Naomi Campbell and her Russian boyfriend Vladislav Doronin and my gorgeous Italian friend Mirella Petteni.
The next day…before going to the Giardini everybody is having lunch at Lineadombra, the new place on the water. It is next to the new Pinault museum at Punta della Dogana done by the architect Tadao Ando, which opened in the afternoon and was attended by all of the art world and former French president, Jacques Chirac. There is something different to see at every pavilion at the Venetian Pavilion, there is amazing glass work from the Seattle artist Dale Chihuly, and at the Austrian Pavilion some fun art called Tabu and some amazing flower work from Nathalie Djurberg, a Swedish artist who works in Germany.
At night everybody went to the Missoni boat Timoteo that was docked in the beautiful Darsena Grande for the Arsenal party for Bruce Nauman. All the young and beautiful where there and it was a lot of funâ… the thunder and lightening didn’t seem to matter.
