Visit…Times Square and Herald Square.  Usually avoided by local New Yorkers, these two tourist spots have recently been closed off to all vehicle traffic making them visitable again!  If you don’t have a weekend house or rooftop to sunbathe on, grab a chair and head to the block party in the middle of town.

See…The New American Room at the Met.  Recently renovated, this new room features sculptures, gorgeous stain glass windows, and other works of American art.  Check out the new  mezzanine level and take in the views of Central Park as well.

Eat…At Nolita eatery Jo.  Small name, big menu.  The restaurant opens into a large parlor area for drinks and appetizers and leads into a barn-like dining room that creates the perfect atmosphere for the cozy American menu. Entrees can be ordered “Old School” or “A la Carte” (smaller portions) so no matter what your appetite, Jo is the perfect spot to satiate.

The decision of what’s in and what’s out is now in your hands!  The CFDA has announced a new category for the upcoming Fashion Awards – the Popular Vote Award, where you get to vote on your favorite men’s and women’s designers. Sponsored by L’Oréal Paris, the vote kicks off today and lasts through June 9th. You can cast your vote from a list of present and past winners, nominees and other CFDA members and if you don’t see your favorite, you can nominate them! The winner will be announced June 15th at the CFDA Fashion Awards at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

Not Cannes or St. Tropez this year, but the island of Borneo!! This mythical island with stories of headhunters and explorers is a land of very rich diversity and we are in the North of it, the Malaysian state of Sabah.

We landed in Kota Kinabalu and went to the island of Pulau Tiga, where after a swim in the warm ocean, we went on a walk in a lovely forest full of monkeys.  At the top we found a natural bubbling mud bath where I made a mask for myself.

Sunday we went to the local market of Papar and drove to the Crocker Natural Park. There we went on a very hard hike where the danger was to be attacked by leeches. Sure enough, some of us got bitten!! A helicopter ride of one hour took us to the center of Sabah, in the Maliau Basin…we went down to the river and its beautiful waterfalls. The water was a bit red, but Christian and I jumped into the water and it felt great!!
