PROUD TO BE WOMAN: PLUM SYKES
March 13th, 2009

Plum Sykes
Former Vogue contributing editor and author, Plum Sykes, joins the International Women’s day celebration….
What inspires you? My daughter, Ursula, aged 2. She just finds everything so funny. Sometimes women can get bogged down in the serious issues they are involved in - child rearing, family - and it all gets a bit dour. Its good to remember laugh at life, especially when times are hard.
What makes you proud to be a woman? Oh gosh…hard question, but I suppose all the women writers I love, from Nora Ephron to Jane Austen, Edith Wharton to Carrie Fisher. These women have written classics that stand the test of time - very proud-making.
What are you celebrating this month? When my black tulips in a bed of blue forget-me-nots flower at my country house, the pink champagne will come out!
