LADY WHO LUNCHES
November 21st, 2008
Topaz Page-Green brings new meaning to the phrase “ladies who lunch.” As founder of The Lunchbox Fund, the South African-born model is dedicated to improving the quality of life for school children in South Africa. She founded the organization after visiting schools in Soweto township and noticing that some children were sitting by themselves at lunchtime with nothing to eat. She wanted to do something to help, and started off with a goal of feeding 100 children a day. Today, The Lunchbox Fund feeds over 900 children a day!
As part of her continued efforts to raise money, Topaz helps organize a celebrity-designed lunchbox auction event. In the past, people like Mario Batali, Michael Stipe, and Bono have created original lunchbox designs, and this year, DVF is proud to have designed a lunchbox. To kick-off the auction, Gourmet magazine in conjunction with the Food Bank For New York City and The Lunchbox Fund is holding a preview auction at Milk Studios on December 11th. See you there…
