LONDON FASHION WEEK
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

London Fashion Week is very important because it has a large pool of new talent and generates designers who end up working everywhere. My own Creative Director, Nathan Jenden is English and shows his own line in London…another reason for me to be there!! The week was fun and festive in spite of the crumbling financial world, which did not to seem to affect the contemporary art scene and the craziness of the Damien Hirst sale at Sotheby’s!!

ROCK GODDESS
Friday, September 12th, 2008

Fall has barely arrived, and it is already Spring 2009 Fashion week!

I called my show Rock Goddess, and dedicated it to Diana Vreeland who taught me that we could be goddesses and rock stars. It is really about freedom and lightness … with fluid silhouettes, airy fabrics and irresistible colors. The girls are beautiful; they have garlands in their hair and smoky eyes. The room is full of people packed into the large tent of Bryant Park. International and American press, buyers, friends and a very glamorous front row! Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria and Uma Thurman on one side with Leighton Meister and Rosario Dawson to name a few on the other.

I feel happy when I take my bow with Nathan Jenden, the Creative Director, and the crowd is loving and warm. The after party is at the Studio … Indochine made the food … delicious!!

NOTES ON FASHION WEEK
Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

On Monday I spent all day and night with my international partners…they seem happy. Escape quickly to watch the Marc Jacobs show at the Armory…majestic, very beautiful show!

Tuesday I went to see Rodarte, a magnificent show…Kate and Laura Mulleavy are probably the most talented new designers who have appeared recently and American fashion is lucky to have them. Then I visited Ashley Olsen’s studio to see her line The Row (Mary-Kate is there too). Impressive work…she is making serious, luxury sportswear.

Start the night at Runway for Change…Sarah Jessica Parker is there with all the other designers who created items for Obama’s campaign. I am carrying my Obama tote, of course. Head to the 23andMe Spit Party at the IAC building. Anne Wojcicki, one of the two founders is married to Sergey Brin, founder of Google. Cocktails at my shop for Michael Roberts and his book “Fashion Victims”…Michael is a very talented artist, photographer and is famous for his fantastic decoupages…he is also Vanity Fair’s Style and Fashion Director…
