AT SEA...

August 20th, 2008

I had a lovely month of August sailing Croatia, Montenegro and Greece. We started in Venice with the obligatory Bellini at the Gritti Palace, risotto at Harry’s Bar and visits to the glass blowers in Murano and to lace shops in Burano.

I love Croatia because there are so many islands. Krka and its huge waterfalls, Mjet and dozens of charming small villages, Croatia is the Med as it was in the 60’s!! Montenegro was a discovery, the fjords and medieval villages reminded me of Switzerland with sea.

In Korfu, I visited Lord Rothschild who has the most beautiful Mediterranean house I have ever seen. We spent a day visiting the ruins of Butrint in Albania, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We sailed to Othonios, Paxos, Antipaxos, Kefalonia… one island more beautiful than the other… and everyday more pleasant than the next…very long swims to land, afternoon hikes through olive trees and lots of reading in between!!
