KNOKKE STORE OPENING
July 31st, 2008
No one is a prophet in their own land…so no matter how big I was elsewhere I always felt like a little girl when I went back to my native Belgium…not any more…On July 31st, I went to Knokke for the opening of our 25th store worldwide, and our 3rd store in Belgium, there is one in Antwerp and in Brussels. Knokke (pronounced k-NOCK-eh) is a beautiful North Sea resort on the west coast of Belgium and I used to go there with my family as a child.
It was wonderful to be back and to celebrate the new shop with my sister-in-law and partner, Greta, my brother Philippe Halfin, as well as my two beautiful nieces Kelly and Sarah. I spent two days there eating les petites crevettes roses (the tastiest small pink shrimps only to be found in the North sea). Before I left, I took a photo at place m’as-tu vu (translation, “square, have you seen me”), in the same spot where I stood when I was 9 years old.
